Scottie Wilbekin dropped a 22 points Euroleague career-high and Will Clyburn added 20 plus 7 rebounds, leading Darussafaka Dogus to a 71 – 64 road victory over Fenerbahce. It was a pretty intense, to say the least, game between the two Turkish squads, especially after things got heated in the mid of the second period.
Bobby Dixon and Wilbekin were involved in an incident which caused the small brawl… and the ejection of Adrien Moerman in the mid of the second quarter. With the score 30 – 28 for the hosts, coach Blatt’s team reacted and finished the first half ahead 35 – 37.
Darussafaka kept pushing after halftime, even grabbing a double-digit lead, 37 – 48, five minutes in the third period. Yet that was the moment when Fenerbahce decided it was time to fight back
With Kostas Sloukas (16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists) taking charge, Fener first tied the game 50 – 50 but two five consecutive points by Wilbekin didn’t only put his team in front again but were also a sign that Dacka wouldn’t fall to their opponents’ momentum, despite Ekpe Udoh’s (15 points, 7 rebounds) baskets.
Clyborn’s aggressiveness made it 59 – 64 and then Wilbekin sank what was more or less a dagger for the 60 – 67, with 93 seconds to go. Darussafaka Dogus’ players were good from the free throw line in the remaining time and escaped “Ulker Arena” with an impressive win.
