Week 14 of the Spanish Liga Endesa was not short of surprises. In a round of games where all hosts minus one celebrated victories, two EuroLeague squads felt the sting of their opponents, while the last two teams in the standings caught a break with precious wins.

Real Madrid (11-2) remains the sole holder of the first place in the standings, despite its defeat by Real Betis, definitely the most sound upset of the Week. Meanwhile Gran Canaria (8-6) took advantage of Baskonia‘s (8-5) lack of firepower to prevail in Las Palmas.

Barcelona’s (10-3) fluent offense led them to victory over Valencia (9-4) in the… unofficial “battle for the second spot” in the classification, which is now owned by the Blaugrana.

In the meantime, Manresa (2-11) took its second victory in the season by beating Estudiantes (4-10). Joventut Badalona (4-10) downed Zaragoza (5-8) in an attempt to get further away from the relegation zone.
