Deon Thompson arrived to Belgrade to join Crvena Zvezda from Istanbul, after officially parting ways with Galatasaray. The American big man signed his new contract after the medical examinations and he will join his team at practices on Tuesday.
In his own words: “I am excited to have signed with Zvezda. The team is currently in excellent form, with a couple of great triumphs in the Euroleague, while it is still unbeaten in the ABA League. I am happy to have become a part of such a team. The goal is to fit into the team since I do not wish to spoil what is already good,” Thompson told and then added: “The first association to Crvena zvezda is strong defense, extremely aggressive, with lots of running. I am glad that I will play this style of basketball. I believe that the team is in excellent position in order to reach the Playoffs, which is a goal. I will try to give my contribution.”
Thompson is well known to the ABA League fans, since he has played in Olimpija Ljubljana in the past. This season he averaged 4.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game in EuroLeague playing for Galatasaray.
