What a way to open 2017 for Crvena Zvezda. An absolutely ruthless Red Star destroyed Zadar on court in every way you can think of, taking a 113 – 65 victory for the 16/16 (!) in this season’s ABA League.
What is even more impressive, is the fact that the final score doesn’t really portray how dominant the Serbian team was in the vast majority of the game. Crvena Zvezda was leading…. 80 – 29 in the mid of the third period and the difference between the two teams even went up to 56 points, 88 – 32, 2 minutes before the fourth period.
With such an offensive output, it’s not a surprise that six players from the winning squad dropped double-digit numbers. Nate Wolters had 17, Luka Mitrovic 16 (plus 10 rebounds), Marko Simonovic 15, Nemanja Dangubic 14, Milko Bjelica 11 (8 assists) and Branko Lazic 10.
Zadar looked hypnotized for 30 minutes, waking up a bit only in the final quarter and managing to simply make its deficit a bit less embarrassing. Ivan Marinkovic had 20 points plus 8 rebounds and Boris Barac 12.
