With an almost impeccable team effort in the last 15 minutes of the game, Darussafaka Dogus beat Galatasaray 87 – 72 on the road improving its record in the Turkish League to 9 – 4 and rising at the third spot of the standings.
Meanwhile, the “Cimbom” fell to the fourth spot after suffering their fifth defeat in 13 games. While they played solid basketball at the first half, leading 40 – 38 at halftime, coach Ataman’s team would absolutely crumble a bit after the halftime break.
With the score 52 – 49, Darussafaka Dogus put some strong teamwork in action to not only “steal” the lead but expand it to double-digit numbers in almost a blink of an eye.
Brad Wanamaker (15 points, 7 assists) and Scottie Wilbekin (15 points) orchestrated their squad’s game beautifully and with James Anderson (165 points, 6 rebounds), Adrien Moerman (13 points, 5 points, 4 assists) and Birkan Batuk (13 points) contributing a piece, Darussafaka solidified its hold in the game and kept its opponents at a distance.
For Galatasaray, Tibor Pleiss registered a double-double of 18 points/11 rebounds, Vladimir Micov dropped 17 and Blake Schilb 16.
This result concluded the 13th GameDay in the championship. After this week’s results, specifically Fenerbahce’s victory over Anadolu Efes and Besiktas narrowly escaping Trabzonspor (4-9) on the road, a three-way tie has been created at the first place of the standings, since Fenerbahce, Besiktas and Anadolu Efes now have the same record, 11 – 2.
Banvit (10-3) defeated Usak Sportif (4-9) at home to remain second while Darussafaka (9-4) overthrew Galatasaray (8-5) from the third spot.
