Rodrigue Beaubois’ excellent performance of 29 points against Unics Kazan helped Baskonia prevail 102-70 in Vitoria and improve its record to 11-5. For the Russians, this was their 10th loss in 16 games.
Johannes Voigtmann was also important for the hosts, adding 14 points and 8 rebounds, while Andrea Bargnani, Ilimane Diop, Kim Tillie and Tornike Shengelia all shared 8 points each.
For Unics, Keith Langford scored 19 points, handed 6 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds, Artsiom Parakhouski had 13 points and Paul Stoll added 11 more.
Early in the game, Baskonia found solutions with Tillie and Beaubois, while Colom was the leader for Unics in the first period. After 10 minutes, the Spanish team was up 25-15. Blazic expanded the deficit over 10 points in the beginning of the second period, while it even reached 19 points with a 3-pointer by Voigtmann at 18′. At halftime, the hosts led 53-36.
The second half turned into showtime for Sito Alonso’s team, with Beaubois sending the deficit to new heights, 62-41 at 22′. Unics was limited, both offensively and defensively, even though Parakhouski fought inside the paint. After 30 minutes, the score was 77-50. Not much changed in the final period, with Baskonia maintaining a safe lead until the end.
