In an all-Spanish derby, Gran Canaria beat UCAM Murcia 94-85 and grabbed its first and much desired win in the Top 16.
With a solid start in the first quarter (29-19) and Kyle Kuric (18 points) leading the way throughout the game, the hosts kept a 19-point lead at halftime with 56-37. In a rather balanced game, Gran Canaria kept double digit leads in the second half too, though Murcia reduced to 9 at the end of the third quarter, 79-68.
With under a minute remaining in the game, and just when the visiting team was approaching in the score, Facu Campazzo (11 points) committed an unsportsmanlike foul on Salin and the fate of the game was sealed in Canaria’s favor.
Richard Hendrix contributed a lot in the hosts’ win as well, with 13 points and 8 rebounds in less than 19 minutes.
