In a press conference held today in Istanbul, Ufuk Sarica was announced as the new head coach of the Turkish national team.
Sarica will lead Turkey in the upcoming Eurobasket 2017 in which the ambition of the team are as high as possible. His contract with the Turkish national team ends at 2020, the year of the Tokyo Olympic games. Meanwhile he will remain also on the bench of Besiktas until the end of his contract with the Turkish club.
As Hedo Turkoglu, the president of the federation clarified, there’s no issue with Sarica being also the coach of Besiktas. Sarica’s club contract ends on the summer of 2018 and has an extension option for one more season.
