Shved saves Khimki against Ulm

Khimki Moscow Region grabbed a tricky win against Ratiopharm Ulm with 85-84 and improved to a 3-1 record in the EuroCup Top 16. For the German team, this marks its forth loss in this phase and its mathematical elimination from the quarterfinals.

Alexey Shved was the key player for the winners, scoring 32 points and handing out 8 assists.

Augustine Rubit’s double double of 20 points and 10 rebounds wasn’t enough to save Ulm in the end.

The Russians dominated in the first period, with Nobel Boungou-Colo (16 points) tipping 7 of his team’s points, putting it up 20-9 after the first 10 minutes.

Then, Vyacheslav Zaytsev (10 points) took charge for the hosts, while for Ulm Raymar Morgan had scored 12 points at halftime. Dusko Ivanovic’s team went to the lockers with a 39-33 advantage.

At 22′, Ulm reduced the deficit to 2 points, 44-42, but soon enough Shved started executing the opposing team with his shooting. After 30′, Khimki was up by 12, 70-58.

The visitors trimmed the deficit to 3 points at 36′, 78-75 and kept chasing the hosts until the very final seconds of the game.
