The Bucks couldn’t beat the Raptors, however Giannis Antetokounmpo has cemented his place as one of the up-and-coming stars of the league.
Toronto coach Dwane Casey was complimentary of his team’s defensive play against Giannis and the comparison he made was at least flattering for the Greek freak. Casey singled out the play of DeMarre Carroll on Giannis, who was held to 19 points, six rebounds and a game-high eight assists after burning the Raptors in the team’s two previous meetings this season.
“I compared him to Magic Johnson at this stage,” Casey said of the Bucks‘ forward according to AP. “He has the same skill set and once he starts shooting that jump shot, he’s going to be dangerous. I thought DeMarre did an excellent job on him.”
With Giannis being the primary decision maker on most plays of the Bucks and also one of the most dangerous player in the world on the open court, the similarities with the legendary Magic at this point are obvious.
