Kyrylo Fesenko registered a double-double of 20 points/11 rebounds leading Sidigas Avellino to a 80 – 68 victory over Olimpia Milano in the Italian League. Although the defending champs faced their third defeat in the season, they remain at the top of the standings with a 14 – 3 record.
Avellino stormed into the game grabbing a serious advantage quite early by finishing the first quarter ahead 30 – 15. This proved to be more than enough since the “Red Shoes” didn’t react with sufficient strength to recover from such a deficit, with only Jamel McLean (15 points) and Miroslav Raduljica (11 points) scoring in double-figures.
Thanks to its performance vs Milano Avellino is now 12 – 5 in the classification, tied with Reyer Venezia after the latter were defeated by Capo D’Orlando (9-8) on the road. This result also created three-way tie in the fourth place between Orlandina, Torino and Reggio Emilia that lost even more ground after the loss by Sassari (10-7), now the sole holder of the third place.
