Speaking on the national television of Turkey, Hidayet Turkoglu talked about the possibility of retiring, but also about the young Turkish players, which he would like to see trying the NBA.
As he said: “At every opportunity I am telling younger player not to rest. They have to take risks if they want to arrive at a certain level. In any case they must decide whether they want to play abroad. If I had failed in the NBA, I wouldn’t have anything to lose. I hope that players from the junior national team like Egemen Guven, Cedi Osman and Furkan Korkmaz should think about the NBA. They should try it in order to test their level”.
For his future, he remains undecided: “You can be an athlete up to a certain age, but then the real life starts. My contract with the Clippers is ending and I don’t know what to do. Will I continue my career in the NBA? Will I return to Turkey? Will I contunue playing? I don’t know. I will decide in August. However if I return to Turkey, I would play only for Fenerbahce”.
