Despite a slow start, Besiktas Sompo Sigorta bounced back and eventually beat Falco Szombathely 83-79 in Basketball Champions League.
Besiktas improved to 6-6 in Group D and is now at the fourth spot which leads to the playoffs. They also secured a tiebreaker advantage over Falco (won both games) which is behind them with a 5-7 record.
Samet Geyik banked all seven of his shots for 18 points while Ismet Akpinar was right behind with 17 (4-7 from deep) and Shaquielle McKissic with 12 points.
For Falco, Juvonte Reddic scored 16 points on 7-8 shooting while Szilard Benke and Ron Curry added 15 each.
The hosts were off to a better start with a 27-15 early lead but Besiktas quickly recovered and was ahead already at halftime (41-39). The game stayed balanced and Falco was the one with a 63-61 lead at the end of the third quarter.
However, Besiktas took over with a 15-5 run which pushed them to a 76-68 lead and although Falco cut the gap to just one point (78-77), the Turkish squad managed to hold them off and secure the win.
