Clinching scenarios for Basketball Champions League Gameday 13

By Eurohoops Team/ info@eurohoops.net

There are still nine tickets to the Basketball Champions League Playoffs up for grabs as we enter Gameday 13, or else the homestretch of the Regular Season.

Seven teams have already secured a place in the Round of 16, eight teams are out of the play-off race and the remaining 17 teams still have chances, varying from very strong to slim, of making it to the Playoffs.

Let’s break down their options on Gameday 13 per group:

GROUP A

Remaining fixtures

Gameday 13: Filou Oostende vs. BAXI Manresa; Dinamo Sassari vs. UNET Holon; Lietkabelis vs. SIG Strasbourg; Turk Telekom vs. Polski Cukier Torun

Gameday 14: BAXI Manresa vs.Dinamo Sassari; SIG Strasbourg vs. Turk Telekom; Polski Cukier Torun vs. Filou Oostende; UNET Holon vs. Lietkabelis

BAXI Manresa (7-5) will secure a berth in the Play-Offs if they win their Tuesday game against Filou Oostende.

Filou Oostende (6-6) will secure a trip to the post-season this week if they beat Manresa and UNET Holon lose at Sassari. The Belgian team have the advantage in any potential tie involving either one or both Holon and Lietkabelis.

UNET Holon (6-6) cannot secure a play-off spot this week. They will have the upper hand in a potential tie with Manresa but will miss out in a head-to-head with Oostende. They have a 6-point deficit against Lietkabelis, which they are facing on Gameday 14.

Lietkabelis (5-7) need to win on Tuesday to maintain their chances of advancing. The Lithuanian side will be out of contention for a play-off spot if they lose on Tuesday and either one of Oostende or Holon win their respective game.

Turk Telekom (9-3) and Dinamo Sassari (9-3) have already booked their tickets to the Play-Offs. SIG Strasbourg (4-8) and Polski Cukier Torun (2-10) are out of the play-off race.

GROUP B

Remaining fixtures

Gameday 13: Anwil Wloclawek vs. Teksüt Bandirma; EB Pau-Lacq-Orthez vs. Telenet Giants Antwerp; RASTA Vechta vs. AEK; Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem vs. San Pablo Burgos

Gameday 14: Telenet Giants Antwerp vs. Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem; San Pablo Burgos vs. RASTA Vechta; AEK vs. Anwil Wloclawek; Teksüt Bandirma vs. EB Pau-Lacq-Orthez

San Pablo Burgos (7-5) will punch their ticket to the post-season if they win their Wednesday game against Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem.

AEK (7-5) will secure a spot in the Play-Offs if they win their Wednesday game against RASTA Vechta.

Teksüt Bandirma (6-6) will clinch a play-off berth if they win their Tuesday game at Anwil and AEK win their Wednesday game at Vechta.

RASTA Vechta (6-6) cannot secure a place in the Play-Offs this week. If they beat AEK and results elsewhere go their way, they will increase the chances of a favorable scenario, a four-way tie at 8-6 between them, Bandirma, Burgos and AEK. In that case, the former three teams would advance and AEK would finish fifth.

Anwil Wloclawek (5-7) absolutely need to beat Bandirma on Tuesday in order to keep alive their chances of making the Play-Offs.

Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem (9-3) have already booked their ticket to the Play-Offs. Telenet Giants Antwerp (4-8) and EB Pau-Lacq-Orthez (4-8) are out of contention for a spot in the Play-Offs.

GROUP C

Remaining fixtures

Gameday 13: Peristeri winmasters vs. Brose Bamberg; Mornar Bar vs. ERA Nymburk; Iberostar Tenerife vs. VEF Riga; Nizhny Novgorod vs.Gaziantep

Gameday 14: ERA Nymburk vs. Peristeri winmasters; Brose Bamberg vs. Iberostar Tenerife; VEF RIga vs. Nizhny Novgorod; Gaziantep vs. Mornar Bar

Nizhny Novgorod (7-5) will secure a place in the Play-Offs if they win their Wednesday game against Gaziantep, or if Peristeri defeat Brose Bamberg (in that second scenario both Peristeri and Nizhny advance).

Peristeri winmasters (7-5) will clinch a post-season berth if they win their Tuesday game against Brose Bamberg (in that case both Peristeri and Nizhny advance).

Brose Bamberg (6-6) will only stay in contention if they beat Peristeri. The winning margin is irrelevant, since they had defeated the Greek team in the reverse fixture. In the event of a four-way tie on Gameday 14 between Nizhny, Bamberg and Peristeri, the former two advance and the Greek team finishes fifth.

Iberostar Tenerife (10-2) and ERA Nymburk (10-2) have secured a berth in the Play-Offs. Mornar Bar (4-8), Gaziantep (3-9) and VEF Riga (1-11) are out of the postseason race.

GROUP D

Remaining fixtures

Gameday 13: Falco Szombathely vs. Happy Casa Brindisi; Besiktas Sompo Sigorta vs. Neptunas Klaipeda; Telekom Baskets Bonn vs. JDA Dijon; Casademont Zaragoza vs. PAOK

Gameday 14: JDA Dijon vs. Besiktas Sompo Sigorta; Happy Casa Brindisi vs. Casademont Zaragoza; Neptunas Klaipeda vs. Falco Szombathely; PAOK vs. Telekom Baskets Bonn

Telekom Baskets Bonn (7-5) will secure a play-off spot if they win their Tuesday game against Dijon, or if both Besiktas and Brindisi win their respective Tuesday games.

Besiktas Sompo Sigorta (6-6) will advance to the Play-Offs if they win their Tuesday game against Neptunas Klaipeda.

Happy Casa Brindisi (5-7) will only maintain chances of advancing if they defeat Falco on Tuesday and both Bonn and Besiktas lose their respective games. The Italian team have the advantage in a potential tie with Neptunas but are at a disadvantage in case of a tie with either one of Bonn or Besiktas.

Neptunas Klaipeda (5-7) will be knocked out of contention for a play-off spot unless they beat Besiktas on Tuesday. In case they are successful, they would have the upper hand in a potential tie with the Turkish team (regardless of margin in the Tuesday clash) and Bonn.

Falco Szombathely (5-7) need a win over Brindisi and both Bonn and Besiktas to lose their respective games in order to stay in the race.

Casademont Zaragoza (8-4) and JDA Dijon (8-4) have already secured their place in the Play-Offs. PAOK (4-8) are out of contention for a spot in the Play-Offs.
