Teksut Bandirma put on a late surge and got an 89-84 road win against Anwil Wloclawek in Basketball Champions League.
Bandirma improved to 7-6 in Group B and will advance to the playoffs this week if AEK wins over RASTA Vechta tomorrow (29/1). On the other hand, Anwil (5-8) is now out of the playoff contention.
Tyler Kalinoski led the charge with 19 points followed by Ian Hummer with 16 and Omar Prewitt with 13 points. Emanuel Terry logged a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
For Anwil, Rolands Freimanis scored 17 in addition to Chris Dowe’s 14 Tony Wroten’s 12 points. Ricky Ledo scored eight points while dishing nine assists.
Bandirma was off to a better start (26-20) but Anwil fought back and had the minimal lead at halftime (43-42). It seemed as though the hosts were on their way to turn the tables (61-54) but the Turkish squad slowly recovered and stepped up in crunch time to grab the win.
