If you don’t believe in jinxes, there’s a prime example that can make you rethink your position. Just a few days after our feature about Besiktas and the way they were on course to qualify to the Basketball Champions League Round of 16, they did qualify, but also had a game they should want to forget.
Besiktas was defeated by Dijon and scored just 47 points, becoming the seventh team to score less than 50 points in a regular-season BCL game. The all-time negative record still belongs to Opava with 38 points, yet, Besiktas is tied with Skyliners Frankfurt, Orlandina and MHP Riesen for the second-worst offensive performance.
It also has to be noted that the two points scored by Besiktas in the third period are also a negative record in the BCL history, and ironically on the 12th of November, Besiktas was on the opposite side, keeping Falco Sombateli to 49 points in Istanbul.
