The mastermind behind ERA Nymburk crazy Basketball Champions League run, Oren Amiel, remembers what David Blatt told him, his team’s success in the 2019-20 BCL season, and the scheduled Final Eight set to conclude the current edition of FIBA’s premier club competition. The full transcript of his long video-interview is posted on Nymburk’s official site.
“I played seven years for David Blatt. He once told me that when you go back and evaluate all your career, you will only find between one to five teams that you want to be with the players every day,” said the Israeli head coach remembering his experience with Blatt at Hapoel Galil Elyon, “I think this team is one of them.”
Nymburk was the only side that produced 12 regular-season wins in any of the four groups. The Czech Republic outlet added a two-game sweep over Teskut Bandirma advancing to the quarterfinals. However, the coronavirus pandemic halted the 2019-20 season right before the set best-of-three series versus AEK.
“The way we performed, our style, our passion. It was unique and refreshing,” mentioned Amiel regarding his side, “I can’t predict what would have happened against AEK. We certainly had confidence in the way we handled situations.”
