Limoges, one of the most historic European clubs, announced that they will be joining the Basketball Champions League. The French side signed a three-year contract (subject to sports results) with the competition.
“We are very pleased with this commitment over several seasons because this prospect allows the club to secure its international future in continuity and stability,” Limoges president Yves Martinez said per the club’s website. Limoges is the sixth new major addition of the Basketball Champions League after Galatasaray, Tofas Bursa, Bilbao, Rytas Vilnius and Darussafaka Tekfen.
“Our choice to join the BCL responds to several motivations: In the first place is that of joining a competition which has managed to rise to the highest level in Europe, which has consolidated its development by the integration of common investors with the NBA and which adds major European basketball teams like Darussafaka, Bilbao, Tofas or Rytas. Then, to be consistent with our league, the LNB, affiliated to FIBA, organizer of BCL, and whose calendar is built in accordance with that of the Jeep Elite. Finally, because there’s a beautiful story between Limoges and Europe and whatever the context, we must make it last.”
