Filou Oostende added five years on Dario Gjergja’s contract, the Belgium club announced. The 44-year Croatian that holds Belgian citizenship joined Oostende back in 2011 with multiple contract extensions leading up to his latest.
Under his guidance, BCO captured the Belgian league title every year since 2012 evolving into the most successful team in PBL history. Beyond the EuroMillions Basketball League, Oostende is part of the Basketball Champions League since the inaugural 2016-17 season and still engaged in a best-of-three Round of 16 series tied at 1-1 with Iberostar Tenerife with a plan to resume the BCL season in September.
Gjergja is also the head coach of the Belgium national team, a role he took over in September 2018. He previously served as an assistant to Velimir Perasovic at the Croatia national team in 2015.
