Rytas Vilnius further gears up ahead of its move to the Basketball Champions League by re-signing Arnas Butkevicius to a two-year contract, the Lithuanian club announced on Thursday,
“I like Vilnius, the fans,” he noted upon extending his contract, “I was also happy after talking with the new coach.”
The 27-year-old Lithuanian swingman joined Rytas back in 2017. His third and most recent campaign, shortened by the coronavirus pandemic, saw him put up 8.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per 7DAYS EuroCup contest, and 8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per LKL match.
“I really wanted Arnas to stay on our team,” said recently appointed head coach Donaldas Kairys, “He is the leader on and off the court. He is a member of the Lithuanian national team. He helps the team in many ways, demands the utmost from himself, and constantly strives to improve his game.”
