ATHENS – The decision to join AEK for the Basketball Champions League Final Eight was completed with Tyrese Rice hoping to add the BCL title to his list of accomplishments. However, the Queen was held to second place after losing the championship game Sunday.
“Whenever you lose a championship, obviously you feel sad,” mentioned the Boston College alum, 33-year-old point guard, to Greek national television immediately after the final versus Hereda San Pablo Burgos.
In addition, Rice confirmed he will consider retiring. “My family is here. I will relax with them and think about that later,” he replied regarding possibly ending his career.
A team-high 17 points was not enough for the Champions League title. He was 6/12 from the field. threw out four assists and registered two steals in 18:41.
“They hit some big shots. That sparked their offense,” he said on the game itself, “When you start to make shots, that helps defense as well. They played the way they wanted to play. They deserved to win.”
