JDA Dijon dug its way out of an 18-point hole for an overtime win, 91-79, versus Keravnos Tuesday.

Axel Julien banked nine points in the extra five minutes of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season Group B Round 1 match for a game-high 26 points. David Holston poured 18 out of his 24 points after the third quarter and also earned six steals.

The game-changers mentioned got the French outlet to the fourth straight BCL victory at the Palais des Sport Jean-Michel Geoffroy and fourth overall in all competitions since the Final Eight completing the 2019-20 season.

“Every time you win it’s a positive,” said head coach Laurent Legname in the post-game press conference, “My players did not give up. But I can’t be happy with our showing on the court.”

The first-ever Cypriot club appearing in the Champions League group stage held the lead for most of the contest but struggled against a stronger defensive effort in the last period and was brushed off in overtime. Ahmaad Rorie with 23 points and Brandon Rozzell with 22 points weren’t enough for the upset.

“A lot of people did not even think we were going to make it here,” said Rorie, “We played hard the whole game. But they are a really good team. There is nothing for us to be ashamed of.”
