Rytas Vilnius announced that guard Demetrius Jackson abruptly left the team due to family reasons. The club is saying that they have begun searching for Jackson’s replacement.
“The player himself asked us to not detail his family circumstances,” Rytas club director Justas Jankauskas said. “We respect his privacy and want to believe him. But for us, this is painful news, we’re losing our leader and a very important player. In any case, we sincerely wish Demetrius’ relatives health.”
Jackson was averaging 13.5 points, 5.2 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals in the Lithuanian LKL League in 23:01 minutes over six games while Rytas was leading the standings at 6-1. The American player had signed with Rytas in August to play in Europe for the first time in his career.
