After parting ways with Ertugrul Erdogan, Galatasaray announced that the former assistant Omer Ugurata will take over as the head coach for the rest of the 2020-21 campaign.
Per Galatasaray:
For the position of Head Coach of Galatasaray Men’s Basketball Team, an agreement was reached with Ömer Uğurata, who has been working as an assistant coach for our team since the 2018-2019 season, until the end of the season.
Starting his career as a trainer at Beykoz Sports Club, which competed in the Men’s Regional Basketball League in 2000, Uğurata worked here as A team and infrastructure coach until 2002. After that, Uğurata worked as the youth coach of ITU Sports Club between 2002-2003 and worked as the assistant coach and infrastructure coach of Darüşşafaka Sports Club, which competed in the Basketball Super League between 2003-2008.
Ömer Uğurata, who worked in the national team as A National Team Statistics and Analysis Responsible between 2008-2012, Assistant Coach of the National Team between 2012-2014, Assistant Coach of the Ümit National Team between 2008-2009, Assistant Coach of the Star National Team between 2009-2011. Since 2018, he has been working as an assistant coach in the Galatasaray Men’s Basketball Team.
Having worked as an assistant coach in Darüşşafaka‘s 2018 EuroCup champion team, Uğurata won the 2010 Stars Balkan Championship, 2012 Stars European Championship, 2014 U18 National Team European Championship, 2015 U19 National Team as the head coach of the national teams.
