Vangelis Mantzaris reunited with Peristeri, the Greek club announced Thursday.
“It’s been ten years since I left,” he said recalling his stint between 2007 and 2011 to launch his professional career, “Many familiar faces are still here. The team is at a much higher level and I am very happy to be back. I am here to help the team meet its goals.”
Mantzaris, 30, returned to Greece last December after spending the 2018-19 season at UNICS Kazan. He finished 2019-20 and started 2020-21 with Promitheas. His successful career also includes long tenure with Olympiacos from 2011 to 2019.
Peristeri is currently 1-2 in Basketball Champions League Regular Season Group E aiming to progress to the next round. In the Greek league, the team coached by Argyris Pedoulakis is 4-3.
On a related note, Ioannis Athinaiou went in the opposite direction from Peristeri to Promitheas to cover the gap opened by the departure of Mantzaris.
