The game went down to the wire and both teams had a shot at victory but it was Brandon Jefferson who took advantage of the opportunity and pushed SIG Strasbourg to a 79-76 road win over Peristeri in the Basketball Champions League.
Jefferson banked in a three-pointer off the dribble with 12 seconds left to decide the victor while Peristeri’s Ryan Harrow couldn’t get his one to go in.
Jefferson finished with eight points while Bonzie Colson had 20 and Ishmail Wainright 18 points for Strasbourg. DeAndre Lansdowne added 12.
Steven Gray scored 18 for Peristeri followed by Harrow and Marvin Jones with 13 points each. Jones also grabbed 12 rebounds.
The French team struggled to get the win in the end as they gambled away multiple big leads throughout the game. They led by nine (17-8) in the first quarter, by ten at halftime (43-33), and even by 20 in the third quarter (55-35).
Peristeri made a valiant comeback but it wasn’t enough and they now hold a 1-3 record while Jefferson put Strasbourg in a strong position for a playoff ticket with 3-1 at the top of Group E.
