AEK’s control of the boards along with a great contribution from the bench gave the Greek team a 74-65 home win against Turk Telekom in the Basketball Champions League.
This was AEK’s first game in the playoffs as they postponed the previous one against Nizhny Novgorod due to COVID-related problems. They start off with the win while Turk Telekom now holds a 1-1 record in Group K.
Daryl Macon led the way with 20 points followed by Jonas Maciulis with 15 and Keith Langford with ten points. On the other side, Nick Johnson and Kyle Wiltjer scored 14 each while Samet Geyik added ten.
AEK had an upper hand since early and led 38-31 at halftime. Coupled with the 5-0 start to the second half, the Greek team went into double-digits and although the guests put on a couple of comeback efforts, the experienced hosts managed to respond each time and secure the win.
