Nizhny Novgorod had quite a slow start but the team coach by Zoran Lukic bounced back and grabbed a 73-68 road win over SIG Strasbourg in the Basketball Champions League.

Kasey Shepherd was the only double-digit scorer for Nizhny Novgorod with game-high 26 points on 10-18 shooting. Sergey Toropov and Artem Komolov added nine each. Toropov also grabbed 11 rebounds.

For Strasbourg, Brandon Jefferson scored 20 in addition to Jaromir Bohacik and Bonzie Colson’s 13 points each.

It was a very close game statistically. The French squad dominated on the fast break and that gave them a 22-7 early lead, however, coach Lukic has been known for finding a way to change the course of the game.

He looked at the bench and found the solution in Kasey Shepherd. His reserves outscored Strasbourg’s with 51 to 11 and brought the win to the Russians.
