Strasbourg had an upper hand early on but AEK recovered and, with a big run down the stretch, grabbed a 77-68 home win against Strasbourg in the Basketball Champions League.
Keith Langford was holding AEK nearby throughout the first three and a half quarters with his 19 points but it was the rest of the Greek squad that stepped up in perfect time to take down Strasbourg.
The guests were up 64-61 with six minutes left but AEK went on a 14-2 run, thanks to a rain of threes, from that moment onward to turn the scale to their side. Linos Chrysikopoulos banked in two straight long-range shots followed by one from Dimitris Moraitis and one from Kingsley Moses.
Chrysikopoulos finished with 15 points and just one miss from the field while Moses had eight. On the other side, Jaromir Bohacik scored 14 in addition to Brandon Jefferson’s 11. Jean-Baptiste Maille and DeAndre Lansdowne added ten points each.
AEK improved to 2-0 in Group K while Strasbourg has now lost all three of its games in the Round of 16 and will have a hard time recovering with no room for even the slightest of mistakes.
