Russian Basketball Federation President Andrei Kirilenko spoke about the organization of the Basketball Champions League Final Eight in Nizhny Novgorod, an event that featured teams from six different countries, a “breath of fresh air” with the current COVID-19 restrictions all around Europe, as he mentioned.
“In the current condition of the world, and Europe especially, with a lot of restrictions, I think it’s like a breath of fresh air. I want to congratulate the local authorities for organizing a beautiful event”, Kirilenko stated. “Again, we were still under some restrictions, with just 50% of the fans. We wish it could have been a full gym, but again, it’s better than nothing”.
“The teams that were here showed a great level of basketball. If they played again, we would have different results! That means that the level is very equal in those eight teams”.
