Dinamo Sassari was in search of a new coach after parting ways with Gianmarco Pozzecco, and the club found it in Demis Cavina who will make his return after 12 years.
Cavina was leading Sassari for two years back in 2007-09 and has been working with the team’s management while on the bench of Basket Torino.
“There is great emotion and pride on my part in being here and in thinking of coaching a club like Sassari. I left this club many years ago and I find it among the greats of the Italian championship, with a consolidated European project and important goals. Dinamo have a clear way of working and a lot of ambition, I have to thank those who trusted me. Obviously, in the last two years, the management and I have had the opportunity to get to know each other thoroughly in Turin and work in total synergy, this relationship is born from the unity of purpose and the sharing of a common ambition,” the coach said and added.
“I thank President Sardara for the great opportunity, I can’t wait to start this new path and dive back into an environment I already know well, in these hours we have already started talking about the new project. I know Sassari well, it has always been a home to me and a place where I always came back with pleasure. I want to trace a path and follow it by combining it with the already very specific one that this club has, aware that having a common goal is the basis of everything. In the seasons in which I managed to obtain team results I have always relied on the individual motivations of the boys, we want hungry players who want to improve in an important square, the pawns who are already part of this group will be fundamental, we do not start from scratch and this is a great advantage.”
