Andrew Andrew found himself in need to return to the US due to a family emergency involving his grandmother and the situation led to the player parting ways with Turk Telekom. He announced his free-agent status and is now in search of a new team for the upcoming season.

“Sunday, Aug 29th my grandma suffered from a stroke. I was 6k Miles away from home, finishing an amazing training camp with Turk Telekom! I alerted my agent of news of my grandma having a stroke telling him that if it ends up serious that I would need to go home. He agreed, but we both understood under the condition that it became serious. We waited for news on how serious the matter was and on Aug 31st I found out doctors had given her 3-5 days to live. I texted my agent the moment I found that I need to go home to be with my grandma and sent a picture of her so he could show the team the seriousness of the situation.

Because of this, I have been notified that I have to settle my contract with Turk Telekom because they refused to grant me permission to be with my family. I apologize to my teammates and the fans but I really did not have a choice. It’s my grandma. Good luck to you this season and I was looking forward to winning big games with the guys this year.

So with that being said any team in the world open to signing me, please know I am motivated to play. Got a Killer ready! – AA,” Andrew wrote.

Andrews played for Darussafaka last season, averaging 16.3 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.2 rebounds over 36 games in the Turkish League and the Basketball Champions League.
