An arguably solid offseason for Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem continued with the addition of Kaiser Gates. He was inked to a contract for the next season, the team announced.
“I am very happy that we were able to bring in a gifted shooter like Kaiser,” noted the head coach of the Israeli team, Oren Amiel.
Gates, 24, has been in the G League since going undrafted in 2018, after completing his NCAA run at Xavier. He became a member of the Windy City Bulls, Maine Red Claws, and Long Island Nets. Last season, he posted 9.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.4 steals, 1.1 assists, and 0.7 blocks per game attached to the Nets. Also, he played in the FIBA AmeriCup qualifiers and helped the USA clinch a spot in the final stage of the 2022 edition.
Playing in Israel will mark his first overseas experience.
Prior summer moves inserted Retin Obasohan, Sean Kilpatrick, Jalen Adams, Amit Gershon, Willy Workman, Thon Maker, Itay Segev, and Anthony Bennett to the roster. Returning players are Adam Ariel, Eylon Sasson, and Yuval Sznajderman.
Hapoel Jerusalem is heading to the Basketball Champions League as part of Group B of the Regular Season. The team will face Turkish Pinar Karsiyaka, Spanish Baxi Manresa, and Polish Arged BM Slam Stal Ostrow Wielkopolski.
Meanwhile, youngsters Eren Has and Kilicarslan Senkahya were signed by Darussafaka Tekfen. The Turkish BCL team previously confirmed the additions of Can Maxim Mutaf, Troy Caupain, Gabe Olaseni, Ragip Atar, Wayne McCullough, Isaiah Pineiro, and Nathan Boothe.
