Rytas has acquired Marko Tejic, the team announced Thursday.
Tejic, 26, is the latest addition to the squad with Lithuania’s LKL Regular Season already underway. The road game versus EWE Baskets Oldenburg will tip off the Basketball Champions League campaign next Wednesday.
The Serbian power forward appeared in eight BCL games in 2016-17 as a member of Mega, on loan from Crvena Zvezda mts. He was previously loaned to FMP by the Serbian powerhouse. Four years since his last Champions League game, he makes his way back to the competition.
Following his departure from Belgrade, he displayed his talents in Greece and Poland. From there he signed with FMP for a second stint and moved to Montenegro last season averaging 12.3 points per ABA League 2 contest with Studentski Centar.
Tejic carries the experience of 29 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games. He had also logged seven games played in the 7DAYS EuroCup back at Crvena Zvezda.
Tanner Leissner, Jarvis Williams, Speedy Smith, Vaidas Kariniauskas, and Margiris Normantas were added by Rytas during the offseason. Returning players are captain Arnas Butkevicius and Ivan Buva plus Arnas Adomavicius, Gytis Radzevicius, Martynas Pacevicius, Lukas Uleckas, Mindaugas Girdziunas, and Adas Simonis.
The Lithuanian team based in the capital and largest city of the country, Vilnius, will take on Hereda San Pablo Burgos, Besiktas Icrypex, and Oldenburg searching for a ticket to the next round of the Champions League through Regular Season Group H.
At the domestic level, Rytas coached by Giedrius Zibenas is up 2-0 to start the 2021-22 edition of the LKL.
