A day after the loss to Falco Szombathely in the Basketball Champions League opener, AEK announced that the team has signed a deal with Ian Hummer.
Per AEK:
Ian Hammer was born on August 23, 1990, in Vienna, Virginia and is 2m.01 tall. He started playing basketball at Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C., and in 2013 graduated from Princeton College.
In January 2014 he made the transatlantic voyage to Europe and the German ratiopharm Ulm with which he counted 12 appearances, and in August of the same year he was transferred to the Finnish Championship and Nilan Bisons Loimaa. In 23 games in the VTB League, he averaged 15.4 points with 8.9 rebounds, while in the Finnish Championship (Korisliiga) in 37 appearances he had 14.2 points with 6.5 rebounds.
In January 2016 he returned to Germany on behalf of BG Göttingen. In 16 Bundesliga appearances, he averaged 14.2 points and 6 rebounds. This was followed by a transfer from Turkey and Aykon TED Kolejliler Ankara (15.1 points & 7 rebounds in 21 appearances) and in August 2017 he signed a cooperation contract with Avtodor Saratov. In 25 games in the VTB League he averaged 10.2 points with 4.4 rebounds. Next stops in his career are Nizhny Novgorod and Monaco.
On October 5, 2019, he came to an agreement with Teksüt Bandırma. In 19 appearances in the Turkish Championship, he had 10.8 points with 5.2 rebounds, while in 14 appearances in BCL he recorded 10.2 points with 4.7 rebounds.
On 29 February 2020 he returned for the 3rd time to the German Championship, this time on behalf of EWE Baskets Oldenburg and on 29 July he was transferred to Petkim Spor in Turkey. In 29 appearances he averaged 11.2 points with 4.9 rebounds.
