Stretching into a double-digit lead from the first half, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg retained focus all the way through the convincing 80-69 victory versus Lenovo Tenerife on Wednesday evening.

Experienced wing Tremmell Darden registered a team-high 16 points and also pulled down seven rebounds helping his side stay in the lead from start to finish in the Basketball Champions League Regular Season Round 3 match. Jonathan Baehre was among players missing recent practices due to illness but followed with 15 points. Justin Simon paired his 14 points with nine rebounds. The double-digit scoring pack expanded to Jordan Hulls and Jonah Radebaugh adding 13 and 11 points, respectively.

After the early 15-point advantage was reduced to shooting distance, the hosts got back in a comfortable position with the lead peaking at 16 points down the stretch.

The Spanish side, currently 4-3 in the ACB, had prevailed in the past two BCL meetings with Ludwigsburg. That streak was ended despite Kyle Wiltjer pouring a game-high 24 points in Germany. Emir Sulejmanovic was sidelined along with Giorgi Shermadini and Dejan Todorovic.

Three days after improving to 3-2 in Germany’s easyCredit BBL, John Patrick’s side with a second home win in the 2021-22 edition of the Champions League jumped to 3-0 in Group A backing the MHP Arena visitors to 2-1. Txus Vidorreta’s side will be looking to return to the win column versus Prometey at home on November 10, while Round 4 also features Ludwigsburg at Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari in the Monday “Game of the Week”.
