In their first game without Zan Tabak at the helm, reigning champions Hereda San Pablo Burgos got the job done against EWE Baskets Oldenburg with an 85-72 victory on the road.
Burgos improved to a 3-1 record while pushing Oldenburg to 1-3, paced by Dani Diez, who posted a season-high with 21 points and 6 rebounds for his team. Julian Gamble added up 17 points and 5 boards for Burgos, while Vitor Benite followed with 16 points and 4 rebounds and Tyrus McGee had 12 points.
The hosts led 39-31 after the first half, though the momentum turned to Burgos’ favor in the third quarter, after which the champs never looked back en route to the win.
Phil Pressey and Tal Odiase both scored 14 points for the German side, while they also picked up a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds by Cameron Clark and 10 points by Martin Breunig.
