Basketball Champions League Trash Talk is back with Regular Season action resuming after the two-week break.
London-born Gabriel Olaseni will be among the players shifting back to the BCL after representing his country during the FIBA international window. He averaged 14 points and seven rebounds per game as Great Britain defeated Greece and lost to Turkey to start Group B of the 2023 FIBA World Cup European Qualifiers.
“It was a lot of fun,” Olaseni told Trash Talk Josh Bett regarding the win over Greece on November 25, “Obviously when you play in a window, you only have two or three days to get ready all your schemes in offense and defense. To come together in such a short period of time and execute the way you did, we came back from 15 and ended up winning almost by double digits, so overall it was just a great win for us.”
Olaseni, 29, has averaged 13.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest for Darussafaka over the first three fixtures of the Regular Season. His side currently sits fourth in Group G at 1-2 with a home game against Hapoel U-NET Holon coming up Tuesday.
“Domestically, we are doing very well in the Turkish League. In the Champions League, we are not in the position we want to be right now, but looking in the schedule, I think we have our future in our own hands,” he explained, “If we win, I think we will be in a good position to finish the group strong. Hopefully, some of the other games go our way too, so we can finish on top of the group obviously and move on to the next stage.”
Bett and fellow host Igor Curkovic also walked through Ivan Buva being named BCL November MVP and the all-European Team of the Month. In addition, insider Diccon Lloyd-Smeath revisits the film room to analyze some coaching and tactical decisions.
