MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg’s Justin Simon once again becomes the main attraction of the Basketball Champions League Top 5.
The Los Angeles-born shooting guard has been a regular appearing in multiple Top 5 editions through the 2021-22 season. A stirring dunk made his case in the Top 5 Plays of the first half of Gameday 5. He registered ten points as Ludwigsburg forced Lenovo Tenerife to an extremely rare home loss and clinched a berth to the Round of 16.
Arged BM Stal Ostrow was unsuccessful at home against unscratched Baxi Manresa, but James Palmer Jr. dunking off a lob pass by Kobi Simmons ranked in second place. The Polish champions are up for a very demanding do-or-die home fixture opposite 2020-21 season runner-up Pinar Karsiyaka in Round 6.
An acrobatic effort handed Kerry Blackshear Jr. an opportunity for a three-point play and third place in the BCL Top 5. He chipped in seven points, five rebounds, and three assists as Galatasaray Nef defeated PAOK mateco and punched in a ticket to the Round of 16.
Young Turkish center Ragip Atar squeezed in fourth place thanks to a chase-down block on Rafi Menco. He helped Darussafaka secure the win against Hapoel U-NET Holon in the Group G game initially part of the Gameday 2 schedule.
The Monday “Game of the Week” winner Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem completed the Top 5 via Kaiser Gates. The explosive forward rejected James Blackmon Jr. to earn fifth place. He added six points, three rebounds, and two assists aiding the Israeli side in clinching the Play-In berth.
