Juan Pablo Vaulet’s contract with AEK has been terminated upon mutual agreement, the team announced Monday. The next stop of the player would be a return to Spanish club Manresa, which also competes in the Basketball Champions League.
Per AEK: “AEK BC have terminated the contract of their player Juan Pablo Vaulet by mutual agreement.
AEK BC wants to thank him for his contribution with the club and wishes to Juan every success in his career.”
Vaulet, 25, joined the Queen last summer following his participation in the Olympic Games as a member of Argentina. The reduced role under head coach Stefanos Dedas in recent games of both the Basketball Champions League and Greece’s Stoiximan Basket League led to the release from his contract.
After debuting in the BCL with Baxi Manresa in 2019-20, he returned to FIBA’s premier European club continental competition averaging 4.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per contest over five appearances. At the domestic level, he registered 4.9 points and 2.9 rebounds per game over ten appearances.
AEK will visit NutriBullet Treviso to complete its latest Champions League campaign on Wednesday. Locked in fourth place of Group D behind the Italian side, Falco Szombathely, and VEF Riga, the season will not extend beyond the double-legged round-robin schedule of the Regular Season. The even 5-5 record ranks sixth in the Greek League.
Before his move to Greece, the Argentine small forward spent a couple of seasons at Manresa.
In addition, he was selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the 39th overall pick of the 2015 NBA draft. His NBA rights were traded to the Brooklyn Nets on draft night and a couple of months ago shifted to the Indiana Pacers.
