Former top overall NBA draft pick Anthony Bennett parted ways with Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem, the team announced Sunday.
Bennett, 28, reached an agreement with Hapoel Jerusalem on the early termination of their contract, as noted.
During his brief stint, he made his way to five games in the Basketball Champions League putting up 7.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest. At the domestic level, he added 6.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game in Israel’s Winner League.
Coming out of UNLV as the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year, Bennett was picked with the first pick of the 2013 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He went on to play in 151 NBA games in four seasons between the Cavs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Toronto Raptors, and Brooklyn Nets. His career averages stand at 4.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per appearance.
Back in 2017, the Canadian big man had joined Fenerbahce moving his talents across the Atlantic Ocean for the first time. He was restricted to a limited role but with 1.2 points and 0.9 rebounds per game over ten appearances helped his side capture the lone Turkish Airlines EuroLeague championship in team history.
Going through multiple midseason roster adjustments, Hapoel Jerusalem recently released another former NBA player, Thon Maker.
Moving forward, the Israeli club will take part in the BCL Play-In facing Lenovo Tenerife or Prometey in a best-of-three series. The league-leading 9-3 record shapes the current picture in the domestic campaign.
