Galatasaray has completed the addition of Vasilije Pusica, the team announced Friday.
Pusica, 26, is coming off a brief stint in Lithuania’s Betsafe LKL as a member of Labas Gas. He produced 8.2 points, 4.5 assists, 2.7 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 0.3 blocks over six appearances with the team located in Prienai.
The Serbian guard, former San Diego and Northeastern standout from 2014 to 2019, will be back in the Basketball Champions League. Previous experience stems from the 2020-21 season generating 4.5 points, 3.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per contest over a couple of appearances with Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari, including nine points, six assists, and four rebounds to help in a win versus Galata in October 2020.
After completing his run in the NCAA, the former member of Serbia’s junior national teams returned to his junior team at the club level by signing a contract with Partizan NIS at the end of the 2018-19 season. He moved to Carpegna Prosciutto Pesaro in 2019-20. After two seasons in Italy’s LBA Serie A between Pesaro and Sassari, he initially inked a deal with Baxi Manresa but after failing medicals instead joined Labas Gas.
His new side, coached by Ekrem Memnun, sit at 0-1 in Group I of the BCL Round of 16, trailing JDA Dijon, Hapoel U-NET Holon, and MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg. With five games left on the double-legged round-robin schedule, the Lions hope to secure one of the top two spots to progress to the quarterfinals. At the domestic level, they are tied for sixth place in the standings behind a 12-9 W-L tally.
