Fans of Falco Szombathely representing multiple generations star in the second episode of the series Humans of BCL.
Enjoy the second episode of Humans of BCL:
The Hungarian outfit is currently going through the third year in FIBA’s top club continental competition in Europe. The team elevating itself through the three campaigns is the epitome of minor league champions getting the chance to prove themselves at this stage and reaping the rewards going way past the club itself to the further development of basketball in the country.
Falco drew six wins in 14 games of the 2019-20 Regular Season narrowly missing the cut for the Round of 16. Winning five out of seven at home started what since turned the Arena Savaria into a tough place to visit for any BCL side. In the 2020-21 Regular Season, the Szombathely team went 3-3, once again missing a ticket for the next round by one win.
As previewed by key player Zoltan Perl to Eurohoops in October, the goal was taking the next step. Eventually, an achievement was accomplished behind a 5-1 run to finish first in Group D of the 2021-22 Regular Season ahead of NutriBullet Treviso, VEF Riga, and AEK. The team coached by Milos Konakov has dropped its first three games in the Round of 16 falling behind Lenovo Tenerife, SIG Strasbourg, and Rytas in the standings.
