Three teams punching in a ticket to the Basketball Champions League Final Four behind game-winning shots on the road this week. Three clutch efforts along with a block and a dunk shape the Top 5 Plays of the Week featuring Game 2 of the Playoffs’ best-of-three series.
Ranking first was Wright State product Joe Thomasson sealing the deal for Baxi Manresa versus fellow ACB participant Unicaja. Dropping a double-digit lead meant trouble for the visitors until Thomasson clinched the berth in the Final Four.
Lenovo Tenerife squandered a 17-point lead before Game 1 hero Marcelo Huertas did it again in Game 2. The veteran Brazilian guard connecting the game-winner was the difference between a Game 3 versus Tofas Bursa and the sweep.
Delivering defensively, Elijah Stewart rejected Jonah Radebaugh in style to claim the third spot in the Top 5. However, U-BT Cluj-Napoca was on the receiving end of 18 points from the Radebaugh and a loss to MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in Game 2.
Don’t forget those game-winning efforts. In fourth place, Joe Ragland doubled up his clutch buckets with the decider lifting Hapoel U-NET Holon over SIG Strasbourg and into the Final Four. The 32-year-old guard logged 16 points.
Justin Simon in dunking motion finds himself at the bottom end of the Top 5. He produced a total of 17 points as Ludwigsburg knotted the best-of-three series opposite the Romania champions to 1-1.
