The Basketball Champions League Final Four stage at Bilbao brings together both the young and the older generation of players. Lenovo Tenerife’s Giorgi Shermandini is among the iconic veterans to set foot on the court this Friday, for a chance to reach the final (Hapoel U-NET Holon vs. Lenovo Tenerife 18:00 CET).
Shermadini brings in lots of experience and a rich playing history to the Bilbao stage, and former Olympiacos teammate Kostas Papanikolaou extended his wishes to the Georgian big man.
“Giorgi, good luck, all the best for the Final Four,” Papanikolaou said, hours after leading Olympiacos to a EuroLeague Final Four playoffs berth. “I wish you to become a champion, you deserve it. Have a great game mate”.
Shermadini was part of the 2012-13 Olympiacos squad that won the EuroLeague title and helped the team reach the EuroLeague playoffs the following season. After his stint with Olympiacos, Shermadini moved to Cantu in 2014-15 and joined Andorra between 2015 and 2017. He remained in the Spanish Liga Endesa with Unicaja (2017-19) before signing a deal with Tenerife in July 2019.
