Can Korkmaz inked a deal to return to Darussafaka, the team announced Tuesday. In addition, Ercan Osmani penned a two-year contract with Dacka.
Korkmaz, 29, last played for Darussafaka in 2011-12 and is now heading to a second stint. The Turkish point guard is coming off a couple of consecutive seasons in the Basketball Champions League, including his 2021-22 run with Pinar Karsiyaka and 5.5 points, 3.3 assists, and 1.6 rebounds per game upping his total of BCL appearances to 21.
Osmani, 23, was the first move in the 2022 offseason and has played in a couple of Champions League seasons as well. At the bottom end of his two-year run at Besiktas Icrypex, the young power forward went for 6.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per BCL game. His debut in FIBA’s top European club continental competition dates back to 2018-19 and Banvit.
The team also announced that Dogus Ozdemiroglu underwent surgery and will be sidelined for approximately two months. The Turkish point guard was a key player for Darussafaka in its second Champions League campaign and was named January MVP. The solid 2021-22 effort produced 12.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.6 steals per game.
A 2-4 tally in Regular Season Group G earned a spot in the Play-In round and from there the Istanbul outfit eliminated back-to-back champion Hereda San Pablo Burgos in three games. However, it fell on the wrong end of a three-way tie with Baxi Manresa and Tofas in Round of 16 Group J and was eliminated.
