Galatasaray NEF is showing interest in Bonzie Colson, per Eurohoops sources.
Colson, 26, spent the 2021-22 season at Pinar Karsiyaka. His efforts translated into 15.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.8 blocks per Basketball Champions League game up to the Play-In Round, and 16.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per contest in Turkey’s BSL. His side made the Playoffs of the Turkish league but was eliminated by Anadolu Efes, 2-1, in the Quarterfinals. Galatasaray swept Bahcesehir Koleji before becoming the next victim of Efes in the Semifinals.
The Lions are now preparing for the 2022-23 editions of both the BSL and the Basketball Champions League. They fell short of the BCL Playoffs after ranking fourth in Round of 16 Group I behind Hapoel U-NET Holon, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, and JDA Dijon, but are certainly looking to improve fortunes with the potential addition of the 2021 MVP of FIBA’s top European club continental competition.
The Notre Dame product was named MVP as a player of SIG Strasbourg in 2020-21. After one year in France, he made his way back to Turkey. From Darussafaka in 2019-20 becoming the initial experience in Turkey and overseas as well, he joined the Izmir outfit. His rookie pro season featured eight games played in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Already on the path to move from Karsiyaka to the Lions are Turkish players Yunus Emre Sonsirma and Mahir Agva. In addition, Dee Bost is expected to sign a one-year contract extension. However, Kerry Blackshear Jr. and Melo Trimble are set to play in Japan and China, respectively.
