Putting an end to a career including stints in the NBA and the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Phil Pressey has decided to get into coaching, he announced Friday.
“While I love this game playing-wise, I’m happy to change my perspective and get into coaching. My alma mater Missouri is a good starting point. Basketball has given me so much, and now it’s my turn to do the same,” he wrote in a post shared on Twitter.

Pressey, 31, spent three years at the Tigers before turning pro in 2013. As an undrafted rookie, he earned a spot on the roster of the Boston Celtics and went on to log 150 games played in the NBA through the next three seasons. After a couple of campaigns with the Celtics, he split 2015-16 between the Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns.
After the NBA and G League, he moved his talents to Europe to join Catalonia powerhouse FC Barcelona for the 2017-18 season and won the Copa del Rey title. Averaging 4.4 points, 2.1 assists, and 1.6 rebounds made out the lone season in EuroLeague. Following experience in the Old Continent led to a couple of Basketball Champions League campaigns as a member of Besiktas in 2018-19 and EWE Baskets Oldenburg last season.
In the last stop of his playing days at Oldenburg, he produced 8.3 points, 3.5 assists, 2.2 steals, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.2 blocks per BCL game, and 10.1 points, 6.0 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per contest in Germany’s easyCredit BBL.
