Considering a move to China’s CBA for the last couple of months, Melo Trimble has signed a contract with the Shanghai Sharks and will play in the Chinese league, according to Eurohoops sources.

Trimble, 27, was exploring the option and ultimately decided to move his talents to Asia. His career based in Europe the last couple of seasons included a stellar season at Galatasaray Nef. In 2021-22, he averaged 12.7 points, 3.4 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per contest over 12 appearances in the Basketball Champions League, plus 16.6 points, 4.4 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game in Turkey’s BSL.

A leading player for the Lions, he helped extend the BCL run to the Round of 16 but the 1-5 record in Group I fell short of qualifying for the Playoffs. Domestically, Galata ranked third in the Regular Season and swept Bahcesehir Koleji before going the distance with back-to-back Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion Anadolu Efes and dropping win-or-go-home Game 5 of the Semifinals of the Playoffs. Fenerbahce Beko delivered the knockout blow in the Semifinals of the Turkey Cup also known as Bitci Erkekler Turkiye Kupasi.

The Maryland product turned pro in 2017 and went through his rookie season in the G League as a member of the Iowa Wolves. Expanding his career to Australia and Puerto Rico were the following steps prior to making his way to Europe and landing in Spain. An impressive display in Liga Endesa, he went from Urbas Fuenlabrada to Galatasaray and introduced himself to the BCL in style before opting to sign in China.
