Augusto Lima has signed a one-year contract to reunite with Unicaja, the team announced Monday.

Lima, 30, came out of the youth division and turned pro with the team based in Malaga. In 2013 he moved his talents to UCAM Murcia but nine years later is back at Unicaja for a second stint. Alongside fellow summer signings Kendrick Perry, Nihad Djedovic, David Kravish, Dylan Osetkowski, Tyler Kalinoski, and Will Thomas, the first task will be to survive the Basketball Champions League Qualifiers to clinch a berth in the Regular Season.

The latest newcomer is coming off a third spell at Murcia lasting through the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. Carrying the experience of 33 BCL games played between Murcia, Hereda San Pablo Burgos, and Besiktas, he resurfaces in FIBA’s top European club continental competition. He has also registered 82 appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, including 44 stemming from his first stint as a player of Unicaja.

Elsewhere in the preparations for the 2022-23 edition of the Champions League, Bnei Ofek Dist Herzeliya re-signed Andy Van Vliet for the next season. After helping win the Israeli State Cup last season, the Belgian big man will debut in the BCL. Running it back, Sandy Cohen, Quinton Hooker, and Maurice Kemp all penned contract extensions as well.

After re-signing captain Artis Ate and bringing in 21-year-old Roberts Berzins on a three-year contract, VEF Riga tabbed rookie center Nysier Brooks for one season. Ole Miss, Miami, and Cincinnati shaped Brooks’ NCAA career.
